If you have great career progression where your most recent positions have generated your best accomplishments, then this is the resume format for you. In general, this is the default resume format to go with, unless the functional resume format is a better fit.
The advantage of this resume format is it highlights your accomplishments while possibly hiding blemishes or inconsistencies in your work history. Even those with a strong work history might consider this format to bring powerful accomplishments to the top of their resume.
* Resume writing purists will argue that a functional resume doesn’t include any work history. And they are right. Since this is rarely practical, we use the term “functional resume”, to refer to a hybrid between the two formats – leading with your accomplishments and following them up with a condensed view of your work history.
